Illustrating: from mind to marker

My oldest hobby turned into work

I have been drawing as long as I can remember. It started with drawing flowers in kindergarten, and after that it just never stopped. I eventually went from drawing on paper to drawing digitally, because I wanted to experience with it. Nowadays, I try to draw both on paper and on my iPad. Usually I will start on paper and then move to digital art. I like that with paper I can sketch easier than digitally and try out a few things, before going into it on Procreate or Adobe Illustrator.  When I illustrate it is either for a project or a way to execute data in an easier way for colleagues. Here you can think of an infographic or a customer journey. I do also like to make illustrations in my free time, or to help friends with their projects.

Spider-man illustrations

I've always loved comic books, especially Spider-Man. When the Into the Spider-Verse films came out, I was completely sold. Their unique visual style and animation left a lasting impression on me and inspired me to create a series of my own drawings. I'm especially proud of my illustrations of Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy. They were among the first pieces where I felt I had really succeeded in creating a background that complemented the characters. I spent time experimenting with different techniques and doing studies on illustrating environments, and these drawings became the result of that process.

My other illustrations

There are plenty more illustrations I could highlight, like the hand illustration I created for my graduation project, which was featured on one of the final kiosks, or my portrait of Harry Styles, where I experimented with pointillism. But rather than telling you about them, I'd rather show you. If you have any questions or would like to know more about my work, feel free to reach out!
